Punfortunate Privacy Policy
This policy covers the iPhone app Punfortunate, made by M77 Apps ("we", "us"). The short version: we don't collect personal information.
- No accounts, sign-ups or logins.
- No ads, no analytics SDKs, no tracking across apps or websites.
- Nothing about you is sent to us.
- Purchases are handled by Apple. We never see your payment details.
Jokes and settings downloads
Punfortunate downloads joke packs and app settings from Apple's iCloud service (a public CloudKit database that we publish to). These downloads are read-only. The app does not upload anything about you, and we cannot see who downloads what.
On-device identifier
The first time it runs, the app creates a random identifier and keeps it on your device. It is used only on the device to choose between versions of a feature, for example how many free jokes you get. It is not linked to your name, Apple Account or any other information, and it never leaves your device. Because it is stored in the device keychain, it may remain on the device after you delete the app.
Voice and sound
Spoken jokes use recorded audio bundled with the app or the speech voices built into iOS. Speech is generated on the device. The app does not use the microphone or camera.
Purchases
In-app purchases are processed by Apple. Apple tells the app which items you own so it can unlock them, including items shared through Family Sharing. We don't receive your name, email or payment information.
Information Apple provides to us
Apple gives developers aggregated App Store statistics, such as download counts and sales, and crash reports from people who have chosen to share them with developers in their iPhone settings. This information does not identify you to us. Apple's own handling of your data is described in Apple's Privacy Policy.
Children
Punfortunate is suitable for all ages. Because it collects no personal information from anyone, it collects none from children.
Selling or sharing data
We do not sell or share personal information, and we do not use it for advertising. This applies to residents of every region, including California and the European Union.
Deleting your data
Deleting the app removes the data it stored on your device, except the random identifier described above, which contains no personal information. Purchases stay with your Apple Account and can be restored at any time.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will update this page and the effective date above. If Punfortunate ever starts collecting personal information, we will update this policy and its App Store privacy details before that version is released.
